Popeye OG (Mystery Genetics)

Indica Dominant Hybrid
Humboldt Relief
Price: $50 per 1/8th ($45 per 1/8th for members)

AROMA:  This has a very strong lemon diesel scent with a slight piney undertone.  This reminds me of those old school sativa dom OG cuts.  It's pungent out of the med container, but it is ridiculously pungent after a nug is ground up.  It has a very classic OG kush scent to it that will appeal to any of the OG lovers out there.

TASTE:  Deep lemon diesel fuel flavor that instantaneously hits as soon as it reaches the tongue, the flavor is very strong.  The pine flavor isn't apparent on the tongue, but is relatively strong in the sinuses.  This strain made my eyes water after each hit, which is something I absolutely love.  The OG burn in the sinuses is one of my favorite things about the strain.

LOOKS:  Great nug structure with nugs that are more dense than they look.  The nugs break up into a nice texture, and have just the right amount of moisture in them.  The hunter green leaves wrap around the lighter shaded calyxes wrapped by dark orange hairs.  The hairs really make the trichomes pop, which themselves have great structure.  The amount of opaque trichomes is almost ludicrous, as the macro shots portrays.

EFFECTS:  The strain is listed as a hybrid, but didn't specify which kind.  For me, it feels like a sativa dominant hybrid (though it's indica), as the high is very heavy on the eyes.  The pressure on the eyes is top heavy, which causes the eyelids to droop, but the high itself gives a great relaxing sensation.  The euphoric side of the high isn't as strong as I thought it would be, but the calming effects more than make up for them.  It's a relatively quick hitting strain, not instant by any means, but not slow at all.  It's a well balanced hybrid OG cut that has calming/relaxing effects with great pain relief.  It's actually has a pretty intense head and body high.  Great midday (for experienced patients) to nighttime strain.

Popeye OG is one of Humboldt Relief's signature strains.  It's their own, and the genetics are kept a secret (I think...in all honesty I forgot to ask, but I'm pretty sure they keep it a secret).  Secret or not, it's a great example of an OG, and a nice balanced hybrid.  This is actually my first time trying Popeye, and I'm going to say it now...he ate his damn spinach for sure.
