AROMA: Heavy lemon diesel aroma with a hint of ground coffee, the smell of this strain takes me back to when planetary OG's were legit. There are hints of skunk and earthy pine that are hidden until nugs are ground up, but once they are the aroma becomes increasingly pungent. It's a great smelling OG, and does smell like a legit Mercury OG.
TASTE: The flavor is different from the taste, as there isn't much lemon diesel in the flavor (it is apparent in the aftertaste though). The smoke is thick, creamy, and smooth with decent lung expansion. It causes a couple of coughs, but that's about it. The initial flavor is a deep ground coffee-like taste that attacks the taste buds right away. The aftertaste has a lemon diesel-like essence with a spicy side to it. There is also the soothing OG burn in the sinuses.
LOOK: Light green nugs with popcorn structure, the fat and plump calyxes give the dark orange hairs a short look. The manicure is done well, but there are a few stray sugar leaves here and there (nothing to complain about). The trichomes covering the nugs give this strain a frosty look, and even shimmer under certain angles of light. A majority of the trich caps are opaque with a patches of clear heads here and there, which indicates a decently timed pull. The ash of this strain burns into a white/light gray color, indicating a proper flush.
EFFECTS: Gradual onset high that took about 10 minutes to go into full effect, it left the body in a slight couch lock with a cerebral and euphoric kick. There is slight pressure at the top of the eyes, but a heavy glaze over them. The high stays at a constant level without any peaks or valleys. It did well to distract me from my back pain, while putting a smile on my face at the same time. It also has a subtle carefree and uplifting side to it, which does well for stress relief. Good for pain relief, stress relief (possibly anxiety due to the gradual onset), and sleep aid in heavier doses. Great midday to nighttime strain.
A legit planetary has arrived on the shelves of HWC, and its name is Mercury. In complete honesty I was expecting a little bit of a heavier indica, but that could very well be my expectations being too "high". It is still a potent OG, and deserves its moniker. The Mercury was recommended by a BT, so it is good to know that recommendations from HWC can be trusted. The White Fire OG and Kingcore OG are already gone (which were both also recommended as their most potent).
