AROMA: The scent of this strain has a much more earthy pine essence to it than lemon diesel from the nug, but after nugs are ground up a heavy lemon diesel sensation is released immediately. The lemon smell leans a bit on the fruity side, but still maintains a slightly pungent diesel side. It isn't the most pungent OG smell there is, as it is a little bit muted, but a good smelling OG nonetheless.
TASTE: The earthy pine and lemon diesel balance out nicely in the flavor, with the lemon diesel kicking in within the aftertaste. There is only a little bit of lung expansion, so the creamy smoke is a lot smoother than expected. It leaves a nice aftertaste on the tongue long after a hit is exhaled, which is a pleasant touch. There is also that slight OG
LOOK: Popcorn nug structure with light green nugs, the bright orange hairs are almost camouflaged by the trichomes. The manicure is done well, cut tight to the nugs, around relatively dense nugs. The only thing I would say it lacks are capitate stalked trichomes. There are an abundance of sessile trichs, which extremely bulbous heads, so the lack of stalked isn't a big deal. All in all it is an attractive OG strain.
EFFECTS: Heavy indica effects that does wonders for aches and pains, and has an almost narcotic effect. There is a couch-lock sensation, with a slight cerebral kick that makes it easy to zone out. It does a great job with pain relief and relaxation, so much so that writing this review is proving to be cumbersome. Good for pain relief, relaxation, appetite gain, and sleep aid. Great midday to nighttime strain.
Michael Phelps OG is another strain that I held off on reviewing because of how it flooded the market a few years ago. I will admit that this is actually the first time that I've tried it (also for the same reason), and was pleasantly surprised by its effects. Regardless of its legitimacy or genetics, it's definitely an OG cut, and a good one at that. Great indica heavy hybrid with great medicinal effects.
