AROMA: There is a sweet Bubba aroma to this strain that leans more on the sweet side than the pungent side. It has a subtle scent to it, so it is relatively difficult to pinpoint any smells other than the classic piney Bubba aroma. The smell is actually more pungent from the nug than it is after nugs are ground up, which is surprising. It is a pleasant smelling strain nonetheless.
TASTE: Heavy earthy pine flavor with a hint of skunk, the flavor is much stronger than the smell suggests. The earthy side to the flavor becomes extremely apparent in the aftertaste, and leaves a lingering soothing burn in the sinuses. The hefty smoke causes a few chest clearing coughs, but other than that the smoke is smooth. There is a very slight "purp" flavor to it, which is interesting because there isn't any visible purple in the leaves or calyxes.
LOOK: Popcorn nug structure with a lime green hue, the dark orange hairs stand out from between the leaves and calyxes. The structure of the trichomes give the nugs a frosty look, and have a good amount of caps on the tips. Interestingly enough the nugs I received did not have any purple in the leaves or calyxes, but some of another reviewer's nugs did. I'm guessing the chlorophyll in my nugs didn't break down enough to reveal the anthocyanin. Great looking strain nonetheless.
EFFECTS: This Purple Bubba is a relatively heavy indica that gradually intensifies over a few minutes. There is a slight cerebral kick that puts pressure behind the eyes, and causes them to become glazed over and heavy. The indica effects take hold of the entire body, and relaxes sore and tense muscles. It has a "stoney" couch-lock feel that leaves one feeling relaxed and carefree. Good for pain relief, stress relief, appetite gain, and sleep aid. Good nighttime strain.
This Purple Bubba is definitely an interesting strain, and, judging from the nugs I received, heavier on the Bubba side based on the smell, taste, and lack of visible purple (even after nugs are ground up). It has a combination of both "stoney" indica effects, and medicinal attributes.
