"I am a double amputee, and the pain that I experience is not one that many people know about. I have phantom limb syndrome/pain 24/7. I lost both legs above the knee in 2011, and the best way that I can describe it is - I can still feel both of my legs. They feel contorted and out of shape. They sometimes feel very, very hot, and sometimes they feel very, very cold. There are times it feels like I'm wearing shoes that are 5 sizes too small. My only option legally is to take expensive nerve pain medication that works less than 50% of the time, or to gain a narcotic addiction vis pain killer script. I've gone down that path once before, and I'd rather not flush all of my hard work staying clean down the toilet. At least, if I don't have marijuana for a day, I can still function. I refuse to be chained to a substance again. When I smoke marijuana, I am not 100% pain free, but it absolutely helps. On top of phantom pain: I am very depressed. When I smoke, it pulls me out of that deep hole that I've crawled in, and I gain motivation to keep on keepin' on. So, that's my story."
