King Henry OG (Mystery Genetics)

Indica
Golden State Patients Association
Price: $45 per 1/8th

AROMA:  In all honesty, the smell of this strain (after bringing it home) had me worried... The smell from the nug itself reminds me of little bit like cucumbers, which, for anyone who's ever grown their own, is not the best sign. However, once a nug is ground up, the stench becomes ridiculous. The cucumber-like scent disappears completely and is replaced by a heavy lemon zest essence that made my eyes widen after taking a heavy whiff. Definitely a smell that shouldn't be judged until it's been broken up.

TASTE:  Extremely thick and creamy smoke that fills the mouth with a that zesty lemon essence, and leaves an earthiness in the chest and nostrils. There's a lot of lung expansion to the strain that causes a few chest clearing coughs, and causes the face to get flush. The burn in the nostrils is accompanied with an earthy spiciness that stays put for quite awhile. The flavor is much better than the smell from the nug suggests, and on par with the pungent ground up nugs.

LOOK:  Lime green nugs with popcorn formation, the bright orange pistils comes streaming out from within giving it an "angry" look. The trichomes absolutely cake almost the entire nug, and give it a sparkly look. The manicure job wasn't the best, but, again, it's nothing to complain about. There aren't any stray sugar leaves, and the ones that remain can easily be pulled back/off. The attractiveness of the strain is what drew me to it.

EFFECTS:  Quick onset indica effects that start at the back of the neck, and spread into the shoulders. After a few minutes the effects spread to the rest of the body, and even all the way down to the soles of the feet. There is pressure at the top of the eyes that causes them to close slowly. It also causes a nice warming sensation in the face and chest that is also quite pleasant. It isn't the heaviest indica there is, but it is heavy. Good for pain relief, relaxation, and sleep aid. Great midday to nighttime strain.

I did a little bit of research... The only things I could find for "King Henry OG" was a review from a dispensary in Michigan, and King Henry Kugh (OG x Chocolate Thai). Whatever the genetics of this strain are, they made a good one. The look of the strain will draw you in, the slightly peculiar smell might push you away, but take it from me...this is still an OG that should be tried. I'm not sure which King Henry this is named after, but let's hope it's not the crazy 8th one.
