AROMA: The smell of this strain is almost completely muted from the nug, so I was disappointed at first. From the nug there is only a faint skunk smell, but after a nug is ground up...wow. The pungent skunk is combined with a lemon-lime like scent that tickles the sinuses with every inhale. It kind of smells like an OG, but I don't think it is a straight OG. (If it is, it's a potent mostly sativa OG. See effects). It is a very unique smelling strain, so the mystery of the genetics only add to its intrigue.
TASTE: The smoke isn't as creamy or thick as I thought, since the nugs ground up into a nice fluffy texture. However, the flavor of the strain goes far beyond expectations once smoke hits the taste buds, with the skunk lingering in the aftertaste and sinuses. The aftertaste isn't as good as the initial flavor, but it still leaves a nice earthy skunk essence. Great tasting strain, and one that is hard to pinpoint. It really doesn't taste like any other strain alone, so figuring out the combination eludes me. If I had to guess, I would say it is a Memphis Blues cross, but that's only because of the unique flavor and name.
LOOK: Foxtail nug structure with light green nugs, the thick and bright orange hairs dart out of the calyxes giving them the appearance of fire. The nugs really do look like they're flaming (if you use your imagination...smoking some first might help the illusion). The trichomes absolutely cake the nugs, and have extremely thick stalks and caps. About 2/3rd of the trichomes are cloudy, and the rest having more clear caps. It is an attractive strain that catches the eye once you take a closer look. I would have to say that this is one of my top 5 favorite looking strains coming out of GSPA.
EFFECTS: Heavy sativa effects that put instant pressure at the back of the eyes, and slight, yet relaxing, pressure at the temples. The cerebral kick leaves one feeling encapsulated in whatever they are doing, and levels off at pristine level of relaxation. There is also a relatively strong euphoric side to the high that is long lasting. It is a very potent sativa, and one that shouldn't be taken lightly! It might even top GSPA's signature sativa, Golden State, in my book... Good for stress relief, possibly anxiety, possibly migraines/headaches, and relaxation. Great midday strain (daytime for experienced patients).
I decided to listen to Minglewood Blues by The Grateful Dead while I medicated with this, since I'm almost positive the strain was named after the song. I hadn't listened to the song in years, so after every passing minute, in the 7 minute live performance I watched, I became more and more entranced by the music. The name may have "Blues" in it, but it definitely does not leave you feeling that way. It is a potent sativa, and one I am glad to have been able to try.
