Purple Sour Diesel (Mystery Genetics)

Sativa Dominant Hybrid
Cool Calm Collective
Price: $50 per 1/8th

AROMA:  There is an exorbitant amount of sweet "purp" scent to this strain, with a touch of sourness (attributed from the Sour D, obviously). The insane thing about this strain is how pungent the scent is straight from the nug, while the sweeter side becomes much more apparent after they are broken up. If a strong enough inhale is taken a side of earthiness can be detected that lingers in the sinuses. Great smelling strain.

TASTE:  Extremely thick and creamy smoke that leaves full flavor on the tongue, surprisingly there isn't that much "purp" in the flavor. Instead there is more of an earthy sour lemon flavor that fills the lungs immediately with a good amount of expansion. There is a bit of throat contraction, so it coughs quite a bit of coughing, but not a painful point. In all honesty the scent of the strain is better than the taste, but it is still a flavorful strain.

LOOK:  The purple of this strain shoots out of the stems into the calyxes with a fury! The nug actually looks mean, and maybe even a little evil. The purple is a healthy bright hue, accompanied by hunter green leaves, and copper colored pistils. The nugs are dense, but not too dense, and break up into the atypical purp grinds. Even the trichomes have a shade of light purple, sometimes rose, because of how bright the nugs are.

EFFECTSThis strain is an extremely potent medication. The purple in the strain gives it an indica kick that starts at the back of the neck, and slowly moves down the back. It leaves the body in a very relaxed state, but nowhere near lethargic. The sativa side has an incredible cerebral kick that makes light and colors a bit more defined, which put a smile on my face. This is one of those strains that makes the day a brighter. Great for stress relief, appetite gain, and pain relief. Great daytime and midday strain.

I'm not the biggest fan of cannabis that is this purple, because more often than not it's not a good sign (aka from dropping temps to unreasonably low levels to break down the chrlorophyll in the plant). However, the bright hue of the purple in this strain, and the rest of its characteristics have me convinced that the purple was due to true anthocyanin pigments brought about by proper growing. It reminds me of the days when "purps" were hard to find, and cherished when they were.
