CanniCorner: Pre '98 Bubba Kush (Unconfirmed Genetics)

AROMA: Classic Bubba Kush aroma with a heavy pine aroma with a sweet undertone to it, it partially smells like ground coffee. The aroma is pungent from the nugs themselves, but when nugs are ground up the smell amplifies quite a bit. There is also a gritty earthiness to it that is normal with classic kushes. It is definitely a good cut of Bubba, and its characteristics definitely leans towards the Pre '98 Pheno.

TASTE: Hefty earthy pine flavor with a gritty, almost dirt like, earthiness in the aftertaste. The sweetness from the aroma disappears in the flavor, and is simply overpowered by the earthy pine. Although it is a tasty, it is, in all honesty, a tiny bit lacking. The gritty earthiness takes hold of the aftertaste and doesn't let go, and sort of feels like I landed face first in a sandbox. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, since this flavor is classic to kushes, but definitely overpowers the other characteristics of the flavor.

LOOK: Popcorn nug structure that has the same calyx formation as all other Pre '98 Bubba Kushes I've come across. The slightly swollen calyxes fail to hide the extra long bright orange pistils that go shooting in almost every direction. The trichomes on the nugs look absolutely amazing, with long stalks topped by large amber caps. The trichs give the nugs a shiny look at certain angles of light too. Great looking Pre '98 Bubba Kush.

EFFECTS: Gradual onset high that is a rather intense indica, with great pain relieving qualities. The high slowly relaxed my body after about 5 minutes, around 10 minutes my sore muscles became looser, and around the 15 minute mark all soreness in my body was gone. Light pressure at the back of the eyes with a very subtle cerebral kick, the eyelids become heavy, and a couch lock effect takes over. It is definitely a heavy indica indicative of its traditional Bubba Kush roots. Good for pain relief, sleep aid, and stress relief. Great nighttime strain.

The "Pre '98" in the name comes from the fact that this particular cut of Bubba Kush is from a phenotype dating back before 1998, which was the year feminized seeds of Bubba Kush flooded the market (thus affecting Bubba Kush in general). This Pre '98 Bubba Kush is on Herbalife's "mid" shelf, priced at $45 an 1/8th ($35 for Blackcard Members). After trying several of their "top" shelf strains I decided to give the next level down a try, and I am glad I did. Great cut of Pre '98 Bubba that was definitely done well.
