AROMA: This strain has a very sour Durban Poison scent with an interesting sweet twist to it (I'm assuming from the Rhino). The sour smell is very apparent out of the container, and the sweet side comes out once a nug is ground up. It's a very pungent scent that is great for any fans of Durban Poison's aroma. It's interesting that there is absolutely no "purp" scent to this, especially since there is a good amount of purple on the calyxes.
TASTE: There is an interesting earthiness to the taste that isn't apparent in the scent at all. The sweet flavor hits quickly, but then disappears just as quick. It is then overpowered by a sour sensation that engulfs both the tongue and sinuses. Interestingly enough it has the classic kush burn in the nostrils. It's a great tasting strain that has its own unique characteristics set apart from the aroma.
LOOK: Light green calyxes surrounded by darker shaded leaves, the dark orange hairs give the trichomes good contrast. The trichs themselves are extremely well structured, and give this strain a shiny look in most angles of light. There are vibrant purple streaks throughout the calyxes that boldly stand out after a nug is broken open. The trichomes actually hide a lot of the purple, but once it's ground you can see it everywhere. The nugs are very large and dense, but grind up relatively soft. The nugs I got were a bit dry, so it actually ground up very fine. However, the strain smoked extremely well, and wasn't as harsh as the dryness indicated.
EFFECTS: Quick onset high that intensifies to a relatively high level within a few minutes. It was simply labeled a hybrid, but for me the effects are sativa dom. It has a very cerebral effect that puts light pressure at the back of the head and neck. The indica effect is mild, but still gives the body a very relaxed sensation. It's definitely a great high, and excellent hybrid.
Do not confuse this Durban for Durban Poison. It's a different strain that is exclusive to CCC, so you won't be able to get it anywhere else. The grower obtained seeds from South Africa. They label is as "the best tasting herb in the valley". I can't tell you whether or not that's true, because I haven't smoked all the herb in the valley. I can say that this is a great tasting strain, and an interesting cross. We love exclusive strains here, especially ones as well grown as this one, so it was a treat to try this out.
