Sativa
Price: $45 per 1/8th
AROMA: Upon opening the jar at Golden State, the Memphis Bell gave off a sweet pine scent that seems to hide within the nugs. Consistent with prior batches of Memphis Bell, the smell from this batch isn’t very overpowering at first but when you get up close, sweet, piney undertones hint at what lies deeper. After arriving home, I broke one open and the smell jumped out and almost kicked me in the face. What’s interesting to note is there’s a smoothness to how it smells. It’s very pungent, but doesn’t sting like some of the more pungent smelling sativas.
TASTE: Similar to the initial, in-the-jar-smell, this batch of the Memphis Bell does her best to hold off on the pungent taste until near the end of the exhale and lingers slightly. There is, however, a sweetness to the initial exhale that carries over from the aroma. Almost zero expansion and a good flush allows for the M.B. to be consumed in higher quantities if needed.
LOOK: Small to medium sized nugs were huddled in the light-proof jar at Golden State. The buds are of a healthy green color and are of the just the right denseness. They give slightly when squeezed between the fingers but hold their structure without crumbling. Long orange hairs reach out from within, complementing the size of the flowers themselves. Some of the trim could have been slightly better but it’s of no matter as each leaf was almost smothered in trichomes. The trichomes themselves are in pristine shape and the M.B. is full of them.
EFFECTS: What I truly love about this strain is the lack of sativa burn-out that goes with many other sativas. It’s uplifting and mood-enhancing while doing a very good job eliminating nausea and pain. The initial effects last about 60 minutes while continuing to work, albeit less noticeably, until they’re just gone. Like mentioned, there was no burn-out or dragging feeling at the end, and another rip brought those initial effects right back. This is a good morning or afternoon strain, but the headiness and creativity it inspires would probably make for trouble sleeping.
Memphis Bell is a special strain, so far, found only at Golden State. I believe it’s from Grizzly Genetics and overall is an amazing sativa. It looks incredible and is great to smoke almost any time.
